Champaign-Urbana Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co.
Pepsi Champaign-Urbana
I happen to visit Champaine last fall for
a Blue Man concert, however, I found myself short on time and
not able to make my pilgrimage to the local Pepsi plant.
Someone from the local area was kind enough to get these
pictures and some information for me. The
Champaign-Urbana is one of the last remaining independently
owned bottling plants in the world. Last year they
celebrated their 50th Anniversary! The company formed in
1953. In celebration the cans that were produced there,
the whole year of 2003 had the plant's logo and "50th
Anniversary" printed on them. A Unique can like that
should easily become a collector's item.
I have also been told they house a number of
other unique features there, framed posters of foreign market
Pepsi drinks, a vintage VW Beetle with the Mugg's Old Fashioned
Root Beer logo and root beer foam. I'd love to see to see
that myself!
