New Bern NC
This is a
walk around New Bern NC. Some of the people, places and
sights. One of the most charming places I've ever
visited. They are random leading up to the
"Birthplace
of Pepsi-Cola" sitting on the original location of Caleb Bradham's Pharmacy at
256 Middle St. New Bern NC

Cedar Grove
Cemetery
Having made
the trip to the Birthplace of Pepsi-Cola, I wanted to go by
and pay my respects to Caleb Bradham, the inventor of
Pepsi-Cola.
Here he rests with his wife Charity, son Caleb Jr. and
next to them on the adjoining plot rests his mother Julia Bradham and sister Josephine
Bradham. Cedar Grove is also home to a Confederate
Memorial and some of the most wonderful monuments and markers
in North Carolina.
Pepsi New Bern
As always when
traveling I like to find the local bottling plant and get a
few pictures. Being in New Bern NC makes this one
special, it certainly has charm.
During this
trip we had one full day to get around and do everything we
wanted and it was a day well spent. Everyone from the
Pepsi Store was helpful and they also gave us a tip on finding
our way to "New Bern
Antiques LLC". They carry all manner of antiques
and had quite a few original Pepsi collectibles. I
found this bottle from New Bern dated somewhere around the
1910-1915 period. Another thank you to the woman working
there (I think her name was Geri)
who kindly suggested we check out the New Bern Library. Where
we were able to find answers to a few questions that had been
nagging me. I'll be using that info to help paint a
fuller picture of Caleb and family in the near future.
